A sustainable world, mile by mile

More and more companies and organizations actively work with sustainability, and many focus on CSR. By working with the operational impact from environmental, economic and social aspects, they obtain an optimized and reduced consumption of the resources which also results in increased profitability.

An environmental responsibility involves using resources in a long term sustainable way. The products are safe and transported to the customer in an environmentally friendly and climate compensated way. If the business does a life cycle analysis on the products, they get an overall picture of the total environmental impact from raw material extraction and production, to waste management and recycling.

One good way to reduce your emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases is to educate the coworkers in thrifty and safe eco-driving, both for commuting to the workplace and for those travelling in their work or transporting goods.

That makes us all winners - also future generations!

Some other examples can be car pooling, utilizing public transportation and when purchasing new company cars, choosing environmental cars run on renewable fuels.

Financial responsibility consists of an ethical responsibility without sacrificing profitability and yield. The ethical responsibility involves the business values, code of conduct, business ethics, which requirements are asked of subcontractors and responsibility for the products or services that are provided.

One part of the financial responsibility could be to do a sustainability report, either separately or part of the regular annual company report.

Financial efficiencies should be planned in interplay with reduced environmental impact, i.e. eco-efficiency. Many businesses working with investments place these in businesses with active CSR work, i.e. Social Responsible Investments.

The social responsibility involves maintaining good working conditions, satisfied coworkers and a diversity among the coworkers regarding gender, age, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, disability and other values. No group may be discriminated or excluded.

The social engagement can involve volunteer work during working hours, catastrophe help, donations and collaboration with voluntary organisations (NGOs), to promote endangered groups and common activitites.

More and more companies, municipalities, county councils, governments and organizations consider the CSR matters to be important and going from being a matter of conscience or PR strategy to become a centrla part of the business. With an active CSR work, you build your brand and get positive values connected to you as well as improved profitability.
